The first group of people that were majorly impacted by the great depression was children; they had to grow up in the worst of circumstances. They grew up in many different environments that were affected by the great depression. Farms, Mill Workers Children, Cities, and even some children were even affectionately called the Box Car children.
“I don’t expect I’ll ever get back to school,” said a thirteen-year-old girl(Freeman2005, pg.43)
“The sight that I dread to see meets my eyes: the line of unemployed people waiting for the boss to come and hoping for work.” (Freeman 2005, pg.43)
“As I walk, I see others hurrying to work. I look at the other people and wonder if they, too, feel the resentment every morning that I do, or if as the years go by their spirits are deadened.” (Freeman 2005, pg.43)
"It affected children of all different races and ethnicities. No matter what their differences were, they all had one thing in common: they all were in the great depression."
